Remember, whether you’re lonely, sad, scared or mad...

Whatever time of day it is
whether waking, eating, praying,
working, caring or trying to sleep,
when you’re sorrowful and struggling,
trying to believe yet failing and falling,
know you’re not alone, faulty, weak or pathetic,
just simply in a war, conscripted against your will.

When it sweeps over you,
coming like a masked bandit in the night,
as it blows through you,
be mindful of the presence of light.

Of course, you don’t feel it,
it could the darkest moment yet,
just hold to the possibility,
that peace looms, don’t forget.

Don’t despair if that peace
seems impossible to achieve,
the main thing to remember,
is something will relieve.

Please know in your loneliness,
in your pain, deep and sorrow,
you don’t need to feel you’re a burden,
from me (without debt) you can borrow.

When you’re feeling so terribly alone,
overcome your fear, pick up the phone.
Sadness, anxiety, unbearable pain,
can all be helped when we talk to the sane.
We all have times when we’ve lost the plot,
borrow strength from another, that’s the shot.
We all need each other,
not one’s better than the rest,
so go get your help,
when you’ve been put to the test.

Nothing you’re suffering right now is strange for humanity.  You may feel alone, but there are people in your own street right now who are feeling something similar.  There are those who suffered before; there are those who suffer after you recover.

Our suffering opens the eyes of our hearts — that’s a big part of its purpose.

Sufferers have a role to steward their pain by finding resources to rest in to help with the pain.  That’s a responsibility of getting ourselves the medical help we need; not bandages and stethoscopes, but listeners and hearts.

There is a person, or perhaps several, who have been prepared for you, for a season like this.  They wait for your call, your text, your message, seeking their time, their prayers, their help.

Indeed, part of THEIR journey is to help you.  You wouldn’t keep someone from their healing, especially if you knew that you in your own weakness is part of their future story.

We’re a people who need people especially when we don’t want people.
