There is a point to life as far as living the best way. Many do not even think of it, but it pays to I think. I believe we’re actually designed to constantly look to our Creator for the best ways, situationally, to live life and this is not more basely done that routine venturing to the Scriptures and other wisdom writings as well as engaging in spiritual conversation i.e. prayer.
What are the instructions for life? These following considerations are a good guide:
“A sensible person will not overlook a thoughtful suggestion; [yet] an insolent and proud person will not be deterred by fear.
“Do nothing without deliberation, but when you have acted, do not regret it.
“Do not go on a path full of hazards, and do not stumble at an obstacle twice.
“Do not be overconfident on a smooth [unexplored] road, and give good heed to your paths.
“Guard [trust] yourself in every act, for this is the keeping of the commandments.”
–Sirach 32:18-23 (NRSV).
How do the sensible live? They:
~~ Give thought to their ways and their steps (Proverbs 14:8, 15);
~~ They see danger and take refuge (Proverbs 22:3);
~~ Listen to, and take, advice (Proverbs 12:15; 13:10; 19:20; 20:18);
~~ Learn from their mistakes and do not easily risk getting hurt unnecessarily (Proverbs 9:9; 19:25; 24:32f; Ecclesiastes 1:17);
~~ Are cautious when approaching life, using discretion to navigate through (Proverbs 2:9-11);
~~ Listen to their hearts and trust what they hear, doing what they’re directed to from their innermost spirit (Proverbs 3:5-6; 4:23).
We destined to live non-sensibly from time to time, yet that should not stop us aiming for a life focused on prudent and wise principles. Best of all is a desire for wisdom and learning; a vision of life that is one giant learning journey of adaptation to the heavenly realm.
