The transformational and the toxic in the marketplace

There are people who bend toward others and make accommodations, desiring others be blessed, and there are those who never engage in those behaviours, the apparent self-obsessed.

There are those who focus on collective outcomes, for the grand prize for all, and there are those who fill their own basket, ignoring that grander call.

There are those who advocate for every party, understanding we’re all in this together, who there are those who criticise and condemn, and take us to the end of our tether.

There are those who promote the work of others, preferring to offer praise, and there are those who beat their own chest, forgetting what that conveys.

There are those who always ask permission, never assuming they’ve got right of way, and then there are those who act on behalf of others, leading the innocent astray.

There are those who stand for inclusion, open to the input and accepting of others, and then there are those who harbour such bias, they’ve got no time for sisters and brothers.

There are those who actively share information, who desire for others to grow, and then there are those who control and restrict, wanting to be the only ones who know.

There are those who work to resolve differences, acknowledging the strength in healing, and then there are those avoid or aggress, who isolate in their dealing.

There are those who are diligent with resources, responsible stewards of duty, and then there are those who care for nothing but themselves, who care for nothing of beauty.

There are those who sow confidence in others, giving encouragement ever so generously, then there are those who only detract, who menace others venomously.

There are those who deliver what’s required, never tarrying with the job at hand, and then there are those delay or deceive, wanting confusion to stand.

There are those who learn from their mistakes, humble enough to take it in stride, and then there are those who hate to admit, in the way is their ugly pride.

There are those who are transparent in their actions, revealing their thoughts behind, and then there are those who seek to hide, making answers impossible to find.

~

These are only a few rhyming examples of the difference between transformational cultures and those that are toxic.

Perhaps we’ve all been in a smattering of both, knowing that the inspirational and transformational cultures are the ones that have built the confidence in us to want to grow.  And maybe it was the toxic culture that convinced us that we wanted no part in those deceptions.

If we are going to work, why would we work for what will ultimately be destroyed?  The only work worth investing in is a work that will be a blessing for those who are both doing the work and for those who will be blessed because of it.
