One God, One Lord, One Worship

“Yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.” ~1 Corinthians 8:6 (NRSV).

So stands here the binatarian theology—Father and Son.

This is not to say that the Apostle Paul is neglecting the Holy Spirit. Jesus is simply connected at one with the Father in this; we as Christians have one Lord.

The striking repose for the rest of creation is that our worship is a simple worship. We are afforded only one Saviour, King, Sanctifier, Healer, Redeemer, Provider, Lord, Judge—in sum, one God.

All We Have – All We Are

For us, life is real in this. From whom: the Father. Through whom: Jesus Christ. The Lord—our Lord—is One (Deuteronomy 6:4).

We don’t split our worship, or we ought not.

And if we achieve a solitary worship of God, through Jesus, we’ve made life as simple and as potent as possible. Power is ours. Not that we pervert such power by making ‘simple’ what is complex for others—this is Paul’s point. Love overrides doctrine.

All we have—Jesus. All we are—one in God.

Ours is one solitary worship. All other ‘noise’ of potential, competing, devotion is stripped away.
