“... while Jesus was standing there, he cried out, ‘Let anyone who is thirsty come to me, and let the one who believes in me drink. As the scripture has said, “Out of the believer’s heart shall flow rivers of living water”.’”
~John 7:37b-38 (NRSV).
So it is prophesied of the Spirit-filled Christian—that one that hadn’t yet been realised. Thus, as it has been 1,980 years since Jesus’ glorification (John 7:39), let it be so; let it be that the Holy Spirit resident within the believer’s heart issues these rivers of living water. And without encumbrance.
Days of Culmination
Jesus has selected his time for crying out this decree. In verse 37a, it is “the great day,” the day of culmination.
God is always just in time.
Just as today is also that day—that day of our personal culmination—we shall stand at the ready to both receive the infill of the Spirit as the predication of God’s purpose in us, and to issue that overflow of “living water” in Jesus’ name.
This present hour, indeed, is ripe for such holy transactions.
How we’re to praise God that we’re selected to be God’s agents for the overflow of blessing into others’ lives, that though we’re sons and daughters of the Most High God, we’re also slaves for the service of love toward humankind and the entire creation.
