Where Do You Do Your Crying?

“The nights of crying your eyes out

give way to days of laughter.”

~Psalm 30:5 (Msg).

Singing the verses of Psalm 51 in the shower is how I do it, generally. Loneliness is usually the spark for it—a soul loneliness that hits at times when it’s least expected.

I found many years ago the healing therapy in tears. Perhaps I ‘enjoy’ my sincere tears in the shower, the prayer to God’s heart, so as to mix the tears with the cleansing of my body, washing it all away down the plughole of that place of momentary despair.

There’s no shame in men crying; in fact, the man who can cry is a real man in my book. It’s the same for women; those who give gently away to their tears find God’s love replete in the action.

Everybody needs a good howl every now and again.

And the nights really do give way to healing; the day to come hedged in the peace of pleasant and good-natured laughter... and if not to-day, it’s going to be the proverbial day, for tears usher in shalom due to the power of being in the acknowledged truth—being real with ourselves in the sight of God.
