“They begged him to let them touch even the edge of his cloak, and all who touched him were healed.”
~Mark 6:56b (NIV).
It’s hardly believable apart from faith; to believe this account of Mark’s. Yet, Jesus’ healing power is not only known and revered in the gospels, but throughout church history unto life in the present moment. This is beyond Jesus to the Holy Spirit.
Healing miracles do happen all the time, in Jesus’ name.
There are at least two things about this abovementioned verse of immediate significance:
1. Jesus – the Inclusive Saviour
The astounding thing is how inclusive Jesus is. No one is disregarded, none are favoured for special treatment, and yet, all are tremendously needy. They begged—Jesus healed; simple.
Millions are saved in many and varied ways—beyond physical healing; Jesus saves all ways.
2. Jesus – the Inclusive Healer
Perhaps implied above is this fact; everyone who sought healing was, in fact, healed.
Such healing power lay in the mere presence of Jesus’ cloak—it healed everyone seemingly who touched it whilst it remained on him (see also Mark 5:28-31). And Jesus doesn’t for one moment condemn the pokiest touch—this was the very reason he came; to heal, save and redeem.
Do Not Doubt – Jesus Heals Today
We may no longer have the physical presence of Jesus today, but we do have the Spirit that was promised and sent by Jesus (John 16:7) and this Holy Spirit is One with Jesus in God.
This Holy Spirit is our evidence of God’s Presence with us, today as yesterday. Whatever ails us, we have this Spirit and it vouchsafes us in God for healing today, afresh.
